Cedar Point
We had a great time at Cedar Point on Saturday. The weather ended up turning out beautifully! We headed up Friday night to stay at my Aunt Lisa's. Mom, Matt, Lisa, Kenzie and Adriana went to the first football game of the season to watch Kyle and Kenzie's boyfriend Travis play. Maxton and I stayed back because it was rainy and his bed time. Saturday, Katie, Josh, Adriana, Matt and I headed to Cedar Point in the am. Mom stayed back for Maxton's morning nap and brought him after that. It worked out well because all of us "big kids" were able to ride the big rides. The Millenium is so much fun!!! Followed by a close second, MaxAir. Once Maxton and Mom came we hit the kiddy rides. I couldn't believe how many rides he could ride. It was SO much fun to watch him watch all of the rides. I think he had a great time. Here are some pictures along with their stories....
Here we are in Snoopy Land (I forget what it was really called)
He wasn't too interested in Charlie...He's trying to exit this picture
Mr. Cool Guy again, wearing Daddy's sunglasses
And here he is trying blue Slushy for the first time! He got so mad when we said no more :(
Awww....Look at Matt and Maxton....So cute!
This was PRICELESS! I walked over to Snoopy and I was like, Maxton you see the Doggie, that is Snoopy! And he pushed out like he does when he wants to get down. So I let him down and grabbed my camera quickly because I knew this could be good! He walked over, touched Snoopy's furry hand, turned around and gave this funny face with a little body quiver!! lol It was like he had the chills and was thinking, "what in the world was that....freaky"! It was hilarious! Here he is walking away.

Brushing the teeth
Any suggestions on how to get Maxton to let me brush his teeth? I'm struggling in that area. I've even tried just giving him the tooth brush a little wet so he can chew on it and get use to it.
Do you hold him down or just let him get use to the idea and then one day it will be easy??
Is it bad that sometimes I forget too!? :(

Squinty eyes
Remember that cute little poser I use to have???? Well, now, when I say "Maxton, Smile!"......I get this:

And who needs toys....This boy loves his tupperware and bowls!

Maxton's Words
I think the cutest word yet was the one that came tonight....Bubbles. :) He says bubbles so cute, kind of like "bob-ble". So here is what we are up to so far, I think:
ma-ma
da-da
ball
milk
ba-ba
bubbles
roo-roo (Rory our dog)
moo-moo (Macy our dog)
uh-oh (of course!)
balloon ("bu-luh")
book ("boo"- working on the "k")
whoa
banana ("nana")
dog-dog (not so much "g")
I think that might be it for real words. If you call those "real". :) So stinkin' cute! I really wish I could freeze time. I love this age!

Where did that sippy cup go?!?
On Sunday, Matt and I were racking our brains on where Maxton put his sippy cup. We put him to bed and I told Matt, "Were down one sippy cup, let's team up and find it". And we could NOT find the darn cup anywhere! We already learned our lesson b/c a moldy milk sippy cup was found in the toy box a few weeks back! So now I try and keep track of all of them to cut down on the mold! Today, Maxton and I were playing with his toys in his "toy area" aka Dining Room and he way playing with his little house. I looked and the Mailbox was a little open. There it was, the missing Sippy cup! He had put it in the mailbox of the house and shut the door! LOL I laughed so hard!!! I told Matt, that to date, that is the funniest thing yet!!!
Here's the proof...
Then, I was thinking, what else has he been putting is his "hiding places". I couldn't find much to my surprise, only this dryer sheet in the seat of his car!
Here's the proof...

Our trip to Washington D.C.
I've mentioned before on our blog that our friend Zach went to work for the Binden Administration team back in January. Well we wanted to take him up on his offer to come and visit and tour the White House. So we combined a once in a lifetime experience and the Beach for our family vacation. We spent Thursday touring around the city and seeing all of the popular monuments. In no way can you see everything in half a day so we knew we wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and then the War memorials. This was my first time and Matt's second time (he went on an eighth grade trip) to DC and I was really looking forward to being there and seeing everything. It was very touching to see how many of the soldiers died, were taken hostage and/or were wounded in the Wars. Here are some of my favorite pictures from everything that we were able to see. And at the end you will see some of the pictures from our tour of the White House. I have to say it was a really cool feeling to be within like 50 feet of where the Obama's were probably tucking in their girls for the night!! We were right outside of their second floor where they live when we were viewing the Press Room. We were able to see where the Senior staff sits and where they eat, the Conference Rooms where they meet, the Rose Garden, the Oval Office (It was so neat to see the pictures on the back table behind President Obama's desk of his girls and Michelle!), the Red Couch that you see in all Interviews where they sit to wait for the President and much, much more! It was so clean and tidy! We also got to see Marine 1 which is the helicopter that flys President Obama. We saw him landing right when we were getting ready for the tour with Zach. He was in Virginia for a meeting that evening. The dark picture is the building that Zach works in with the flag flying on the top. Located right next to the White House.
I wish Maxton was old enough to be able to take all of DC in and understand everything, but hopefully we will get to take him back when he is older.
Washington Monument
Korean War Monument
Lincoln Memorial (obviously :) )
This is where Lincoln lives :)
Matt and Maxton by a Vietnam War statue

This made me almost shed a tear.
Our First Family Vacation
Well our first family vacation was a success and SO much fun. Our final destination was for our trip was Ocean City, MD. We were there from Mid-day Friday to Monday am. I thought I took a lot of pictures but looking back through them I really don't have many "good" photos. I have attached some of my favorites. Maxton did really well. I threw our "routine" out the door for our vacation which included nap time, bed time and food. Maxton experienced being up until dark for the first time since he's been a "big" boy. He was up until like 9 or so a few nights (and slept until 9 which was great). I was suprised that he still slept all 12 hours since we bumped the bed time back. He experienced ice cream, Zebra cakes and potato chips this weekend. The best of all....Sand! And yes, it made it into his mouth! yuck! He also experienced the Ocean for the first time.....but didn't love it at all. I think it was a little scary for him. He would walk up kind of close to it but them want picked up. He enjoyed the pool much better I think because it was a lot warmer than the ocean. We stayed in a quaint little one bedroom condo that was a VRBO. I would definitely recommend going there. It's a little closer than the Carolina's and other beaches....probably not as warm but definitely a lot of beach and a lot to do. We had a great time this weekend and look forward to going back to Ocean City sometime in the future when we can take Maxton to do more. So all in all, the little guy got to visit this week.....Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware and New York. Not bad for a one year old!
I have my swimmy Mommy, I'm ready!
